WE ❤️ BUDAPEST!

We met THREE Hungarian Pulik this morning!  We’ve seen them at dog shows, but we got to see them in person and touch them and they (and their dreadlocks) were AWESOME!

Fisherman’s Bastion was highly recommended for us to visit.

However, no one mentioned it was a MILLION steps, straight up, to reach the monument!

But we did it!!!  And the views were spectacular!

We stopped at a cafe where John and Matt enjoyed a hot chocolate—a really thick hot chocolate!

And Val and I loved our coffee/cappuccino choices!

The tile roofs were all various mosaics that were beautiful!

And have I mentioned the views?  WOW!

When we got back down to ground level, people were gathered, and suddenly some members of the Hungarian military marched right by us!

St. Stephen’s Hall stood, completely intact, in the new Palace of Westminster, built in the 19th century.

Other surrounding buildings were mostly under restoration, after being bombed and destroyed during World World II.  Hungary was under Communist control until the eighties and nothing was done during that time.  Currently, there is major restoration going on in this area.
Even the Buda Castle was closed, due to renovation.

John and I descended the steepest, most treacherous steps EVER to get down to where the Budapest Castle Hill Funicular was located.  A sign did warn us to “descend at your own risk.”  We should have followed Matt and Val, who opted to take a winding sidewalk down.  But we didn’t! I made it down, but my knees were shaking the entire time!  John made it most of the way and then took a spill!  Yikes!  But I’m happy to report, he was okay!

We grabbed a delicious lunch at an adorable roadside cafe!   (Sorry, Janet, for not describing what everything was!  John promises to fill you in once we’re back in Indy!)

We walked around the Budapest Castle Hill Funicular area and browsed the little shops that were set up along the roadside.

We grabbed a Hungarian Spiral Cake to share—oh my!  We all agreed, it was DELICIOUS!  (We are lucky—they are sold at the Sarasota Farmer’s Market!)

John and I opted to go for a Thai Massage while Matt and Val took some time to go over home buying and home selling paperwork that arrived.  Our massages were out of this world!

We all enjoyed an authentic Hungarian dinner.

Val enjoyed my beer!  (Just kidding!  I drank every drop!)

Oh Budapest, we ❤️ you!
