BRATISLAVA, SLOVAKIA!!

We boarded the train this morning and were Bratislava, Slovakia bound!  We were so excited to find that we had a cabin all to ourselves!  (And was it ever comfy!) Too bad it was only a two and a half hour train ride!

We had our very own train steward too!  (Does it get better than this?)

We arrived in Bratislava and made the (highly regrettable) decision to walk to our hotel.  Mind you, Bratislava is extremely hilly!

However, we finally made it, (huffing and puffing), checked in and hit the streets!  The city is know for its’ beautiful bronze statutes, scattered around town!

The girl that checked us in highly recommended this restaurant and, man, were we thrilled she did!  The Slovakian food we had for lunch was absolutely delicious!
(Once again, sorry Janet!  I promise, John will describe every dish when we get home!)

Matt and Val were happy campers!

John and I were happy campers!

We continued our walk around Bratislava Old Town, which was delightful!  (And so close to our hotel—Dieds, you did it again! 😁)

This structure is called UFO, and is a restaurant and bar with beautiful views of the city, as well as the Danube!

This gorgeous aqua steeple, which towers above the city, belongs to St. Martin’s Cathedral.

We hopped on a tour bus which drove us through the streets of the city and provided us a stop at the Bratislava Castle.

We arrived back in Old Town and simply enjoyed browsing the shops and stopping for drinks!  We really loved the feel of this city!

We found a restaurant across the street from our hotel for dinner, (Val and I were still stuffed from lunch), and John and Matt ordered Slovakian entrees.  John had a red beet borscht soup for an appetizer.  I tried a bite (and I DO NOT like beets), and it was delicious!  (Yes, John had his second Mojito of the day—his new favorite drink!)

We promptly headed to bed after dinner (we were thrilled to have been upgraded to suites) after a truly amazing day!  Thank you, Bratislava, Slovakia, you were a true delight!  (Before today, I couldn’t even pronounce Bratislava!)
