THE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM, ROMAN FORUM, PALATINE HILL AND THE COLOSSEUM!

Chloe woke up this morning and enjoyed every bite of her Italian pastry breakfast!

August woke up this morning eager to ride the elevator down — yes, this is the elevator in the building where our Airbnb is located! Our oh-so-large family has to ascend and descend in shifts!

John, August and I rode the Metro (notice anyone smiling big because of this?) to Explora Il Museo dei Bambini  di Roma!  For those of you not in the know, that would be the Children’s Museum located in the Flaminia area of Rome!  We arrived and searched for just the right place to stop for an early lunch.

We found a darling cafe with tables by the street and went to sit down, when we noticed that our jet-lagged grandson was a goner!

But he perked right up when I whispered “Nutella waffle” and “smoothie” in his ear!

Between the food, the trams, the buses and the sirens that kept passing by, we agreed that lunch was a huge success and well worth waking up for!

The museum opened at noon and we were one of the first ones there!

What a FUN day for all of us!  Nothing could beat seeing August’s face while he experienced all that the museum had to offer!

The museum closed at noon (who knew?), so we walked until we found the perfect gelato store where we introduced August to this delicious Italian delicacy!  He ate every single bite and proceeded to say “Ciao” as we walked out the door!

Two minutes after we returned home, he had taken off his shoes, socks and pants and fell promptly to sleep!

Jon, Jas and Chloe’s day looked a bit different than ours did!  They enjoyed every minute of the tours of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill and the Colosseum!  How Jon and Chloe could remember all the crazy details they learned, we’ll never know!  Jas, on the other hand….😜😜😜

We found a cute little cafe, just a six minute walk from our Airbnb, where we ate a delicious dinner.(Thanks, Dieds, for, once again, finding the perfect place in the perfect location!)

August insisted that he hold “Unca Jon Jon’s” hand all the way home! 😍😍🌼

BIG RED BUS TOUR AND A DAY OUT WITH AUGUST!

Good Morning, from our little World Traveler!

We all enjoyed some August time before we ventured into our plans for the day!

John and I were excited to spend the day with August, since we had already done the major tours of Rome.  We got out into the beautiful sunshiny day and introduced August to Rome!

We found a darling cafe, where we sat by the street and watched, (with much excitement by you-know-who), all the buses, trucks, police cars and motor cycles that went by!  August pointed every single one of them to us, (and told us what color they were) just in case we missed it!

He’s definitely a people watcher!  John and I were never prouder than when he waved “bye bye” to the ladies at the cafe and said, “Ciao!”

We took August to the train station, where he went ballistic (in a good way!) over the trains!

We found the Police Station there where we waited FOREVER to file a police report on John’s pickpocketed wallet, to no avail.

But we saw lots of trains coming and going and what’s better than that?!

Meanwhile, Jon, Jas and Chloe did the Big Red Bus tour all around Rome!

They stopped and walked around the Spanish Steps,

the Trevi Fountain,

and, of course, the Colosseum.  (They have a guided tour of the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill tomorrow!)

They ended their touring at a distillery where they had lunch, and Jon had beer….lots and lots of beer!

Back at the ranch, we hung out until everyone was hungry enough for dinner—it didn’t take long!

CIAO FOR NOW!!!
