It was a back-in-the-car kind of day today! Tim had some driving to do (and I’m quite sure he was soooo excited to be back behind the wheel on those teeny tiny Irish roads)!
We bid our cute little Airbnb, and the charming coastal town of Kinsale, “slan!”
We had a quick drive through Cork and then ventured north to Kilkenny, where we stopped for lunch in a cute little urban area close to the Kilkenny Castle. A festival of sorts was going on with food booths and merchants selling their wares.
The castle itself was ENORMOUS! We didn’t have time (we had to return the car by 5:00PM) to tour the castle, but we were able to walk around the grounds. It was something else!
We saw an enormous church from the car, and Google told us it was St. Mary’s Cathedral Kilkenny. It was beautiful!
There was a group of musicians practicing for an upcoming concert inside. We waited until they actually played something and it sounded marvelous in that big ancient church!
I’m happy to report that we made it back to Dublin; had no trouble navigating the big city streets to the car rental agency; returned the car; checked into the hotel; and enjoyed a wonderful dinner!
And, tomorrow evening, we head to Scotland!
What a day!!! The castle and church looked like something I would imagine!!!
