This was the very narrow road we had to take into Kinsale this morning! Thank goodness it was only a five minute trip and our driver’s skills have exceeded all expectations! This was our first glimpse of Kinsale! It looked AMAZING!
We headed straight for the Super Valu, as we were told by Google that there was a laundromat at the store, and we were in dire need of doing laundry.
What Google didn’t tell us was that the laundromat was downstairs in the parking garage and only had one large and one small washer, and one dryer. This was going to take some time!
There were no chairs to sit on, so we decided quickly to take turns walking around the town. John and I were the first out of the garage. The town was DELIGHTFUL!
We stopped at the Milk Market Cafe so John could grab a light lunch. Isn’t it adorable?
He ordered a wrap, but, of course, he got a wrap with a side of chips (fries)!
Soon it was our turn to watch the laundry spin. To make a very long story short, it took us FOUR HOURS to wash and “almost” dry our clothes. We learned (Tim actually called the HELP number posted) that if you use the cold cycle (which Susan did so she could throw all of their clothes in together) there is no spin cycle at the end! Their clothes came out dripping wet. We had to wring them out before putting them in the dryer and it took four cycles (two hours) to get them “almost dry”! And then it was our turn! 😳
FOUR HOURS LATER we put our damp clothes in the car, drove back to our Airbnb and hung them everywhere to hopefully dry!
We had purchased tickets for the Blarney Castle and the Blarney Stone online. Luckily, we could go anytime because we got there with little time to spare before they closed! We missed a turn off on a roundabout and had to circle back on the narrowest road yet! It was quite a precarious drive!
But we made it, thanks to Timmy’s excellent driving on-the-wrong-side-of-the-road skills and John’s excellent but-in-need-of-some-work navigational skills! There she stood, bigger than life, the Blarney Castle!
We were determined to make it to the top in time to kiss the Blarney Stone! It was not easy navigating those steps—and there were a lot of them!
But we did it! The views from the top were absolutely gorgeous!
I was the first to kiss the Blarney Stone (yes, Jill, I kissed it several times!). I hadn’t researched it so I had no idea what was in store—it was quite the experience!
John was next! Don’t tell him I told you, but he didn’t go low enough to actually kiss the Blarney Stone. He kissed the wall above it. 🙄
We walked out of the park at closing time, and felt very fortunate to have made it after a day of slaving over our laundry!!! Back to Kinsale we went! The views were amazing over the water!
We found a cute little cafe to enjoy a drink and a Charcuterie Board before our dinner reservations. We had earned it, by golly!
Our dinner was yummy! We each ordered lasagna and can you guess what the side was—chips (fries), of course! Oh, what a memorable day it was in Kinsale, Ireland!
This is hysterical! The colorful buildings look like Italy!!!???? Isn’t this phase of your trip coming to an end? Patte
ReplyDeleteHi Patte!!! The feel is similar, however, the dialect is sooooo different! Yes! We’re off to Scotland this evening!
ReplyDeleteI love the little city-the painted buildings and the paintings. Glad you got there in time to kiss the Blarney Stone!
ReplyDeleteThat Blarney Stone was something else!!!!
