TO THE TOP OF EUROPE—JUNGFRAULOCH—WE GO!

We were early birds this morning as we met up with Gary and Yvonne, took the tram to the train station (have I mentioned that it is beautiful?) and hopped on a train to Interlaken and then another train to Grindelwald!  Once again, the Swiss countryside was AMAZING to see!

 

We arrived in Grindelwald and got in line for the Elger Express—a gondola ride to the halfway point up the mountain!  

The ride up was absolutely breathtaking!  We didn’t want it to end!

After the gondola ride, we hopped on a mountain train that took us to the very top of the tallest mountain!  Our final destination of the day was Jungfrauloch— the highest point in Europe (13,642 feet up)! 

We stopped for a bite to eat before we started to explore!

At every point, the views were spectacular!  The weather was perfect and made our time at the top totally enjoyable!  Once we had seen everything, we met back up with Gary and Yvonne and rode the train to the gondola and back to the train station.  We took the train to the town of Grindlewald, where we were immediately mesmerized!  OMGoodness, it looked like it was taken straight out of a fairy tale!

We found a delightful restaurant with awesome mountain views and enjoyed a much needed Happy Hour!  CHEERS!

We ended up staying there for an early dinner as we had a 6:00PM reservation on the train back to Basel.  We were glad we decided to stay put, as our waiter, our view, and our dinners were superb!

Our entertainment during dinner was watching hang gliders!  (Yvonne and I would LOVE to give that a try!)

At 6PM sharp our train arrived to carry us back to Basel!  It was nothing short of a magical day!
