We woke up to sunny skies and we were cruising in The Netherlands!
This was the very first windmill that we saw!
We cruised all morning and afternoon, and were due to arrive in Kinderdijk at 4:00PM! We LOVE sailing days!
We arrived in Kinderdijk right on schedule and departed on our barge tour of the windmills! Here’s a look at our longboat, the Viking Mani! 🥰
Have I mentioned how beautiful a day it was?
We certainly lucked out, weather-wise! The windmill tour was awesome! We never realized that families live in windmills and are responsible for working them through all kinds of weather. It was fascinating!
This young lady was raised in a windmill. She was kicked out at age 16 snd moved to the city. It was there she realized she dearly missed life in the windmill, returned to take the 2.5 years of study to become a “Miller.” She told us that when her studies were complete it could take her up to 13 years to actually he assigned to s windmill. Fascinating!
Our final dinner. Gary made an appearance after getting sick on Tuesday. Yvonne left dinner EARLY to GO TO BED. (She NEVER does that!). Something tells me she’s coming down with something! 😳😳😳 What a fabulous cruise we have enjoyed together—well, kind of together!
Tomorrow’s port: AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS!
Love the windmill education you provide—so interesting! Did we get our Crocs from Netherlands fashion? Sorry to hear about Gary and Yvonne’s sickness. Hope you two make it home feeling 100 percent!
