We met up with Yvonne this morning and took the tram to the train station. Gary opted to stay in their AirBNB and relax and recuperate from the flight and all the walking he did! The train station in Basel is beautiful!
We arrived in Lucerne and walked directly to an adorable cafe on Lake Lucerne. Oh, what a view (and a great cup of coffee!)!
After another train ride and a crazy round about walk, we finally arrived at the gondola station to catch a ride to the middle of Mount Pilatus! The ride up was amazing!
We stopped halfway up to catch a second gondola to the very top. WOW! They had all kinds of cool things to do at this level! And the views were breathtaking!
When we reached the top, John opted to eat lunch, I opted to hold Yvonne’s purse, and Yvonne opted to walk to the very tippy top! (All those steps, no thank you!)
Here she stood (with arm in the air), about halfway to her goal!
She made it all the way up! And while she was coming back down, John and I walked around and took in the magnificent views! We were 11,000 feet up!
We took a cog wheel tram down the mountain. It was touted as the steepest tram in the world!
We rode the train back to Lucerne and took in as many sights as possible! All three of us loved this city! Here we are near the famous
Chapel Bridge!
We fell in love with Lucerne and all agreed we could spend a week there! Simply delightful!
Suddenly it was time to take the train back to Basel to meet Gary for dinner! He chose Boo Thai Cafe and everything we ordered was delish! Here, see for yourself!
After dinner we spent time looking for an ATM machine for Yvonne and a cafe to pick up some fruit for me. Then we bid each other an early good night…tomorrow’s going to be another BIG DAY! We have research to do and tickets to buy!!!
Looks wonderful...we loved Lucerne!
